Floating houses from Rivage

Floating homes with high energy efficiency and great durability

After a few months of close collaboration with the promoters of Rivage Constructions Flottantes, the Garnica technical department and the architect Ugutz Arrizabalaga defined a set of unique projects which are integrated into a holiday rental area in the north of France.

There were various projects which combined housing in unusual places, such as lakes and trees, with incredible natural surroundings.

One of the main challenges of the project was the type of construction: in order for them to float, a simple, light system was required, they needed to be highly energy efficient and the materials used needed to be long lasting in conditions of changing humidity and temperature. All these requirements were fulfilled using Garnica’s Duraply plywood, which combines lightness, durability and sustainability.

The images are of the assembly of the first module, a 40m2 floating home, and soon the rest of the house will be installed, with a total of 10 projects.
